Environmental Services

The Environmental Services O.P. provides for investment of approx. £101.5million, of which £63million is being provided by the E.R.D.F., in water and waste services, coastal protection works, environmental monitoring, and research and development. The main investment objectives are to strengthen the longterm infrastructural base of the Irish economy, protect natural resources which are a basis for growth, meet identified servicing needs and develop greater environmental R&D capacity. Details of the four main sub-programmes of the O.P. are set out below.

The O.P. must be seen as part of the wider investment programme being undertaken throughout the decade, with major E.U. support from the Cohesion Fund.
