Tourism

The main aim of the Tourism Operational Programme (O.P.) is to increase tourism revenue and create employment within the sector. In access of £652 million, of which £369 million will be contributed by the E.U. Structural Funds, will be invested over the period of the programme. Priority will be given to initiative that improve Irelands tourism product to fill gaps in the market. To achieve this the programme concetrates on the following:
  1. Increasing marketing acitivites, with an emphasis on encouraging off-season business.
  2. Product development to meet specific market deficiencies.
  3. Major improvements in the conference, angling and cultural tourism product.
  4. An expansion in the range and scale of training to cater for anticipated employment growth.

There are five Programmes as follows:

Many tourism related projects may also be grant-aided under other O.P.s e.g. the Urban and Rural Development O.P. and the Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry O.P..
