Sub-Programme for Natural / Cultural Tourism

The objective of this sub-programme is to assist in making Ireland's natural and cultural heritage more accessible and attractive to tourists. Total funding of £125 million will be invested, of which £94 million will come from the E.U. and £31 from the State. The aim is to develop new and existing tourism related cultural and heritage related facilities to attract overseas tourists.

Investments are made on a case-by-case basis under the following headings:

  • National and Regional Cultural Activities incorporating National and Regional Culture institutions and a Capital Programme for the Arts.
  • National Monuments and Historic Properties.
  • Natural environment - including waterways, nature reserves and national parks.
