€3.6m Announced in Funding for Eleven Tourism Projects
John O'Donoghue, TD, Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, on 28th August, 2006 announced that funding of up to €3.6m has been allocated to eleven projects, two in the Border Midlands and Western Region and nine in the Southern and Eastern Region, under Fáilte Ireland's Tourism Product Development Scheme.

N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchange opened
Major National Infrastructure Project – the N7 Naas Road Widening & Interchange officially opened Transport Minister, Martin Cullen, T.D., on Tuesday, 15th August 2006 officially opened the N7 Naas Road Widening & Interchange scheme, one of the most complex and challenging road engineering projects to be undertaken in the State.  Costing €233.4 million, the scheme has been completed within budget and on time.

Construction of Luas extension from Sandyford to Cherrywood Authorised
On Monday, 14th August, 2006, the Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen T.D., announced that he has approved the application by the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) for a Railway Order in respect of the extension of the Luas Green line from its existing terminus at Sandyford to Cherrywood. Funding of €13.3 million Announced for Aquaculture Industry

Mitchelstown Relief Road Opens Ahead of Schedule
The Mitchelstown Relief Road opened today(3 July 2006) ahead of schedule and within Budget. The road will remove 20,000 vehicles a day from the streets of Mitchelstown. The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, T.D., officially opened the Mitchelstown Relief Road on the N8/N73, a national primary route that forms part of the South West Strategic Road Corridor and the Mitchelstown Fermoy project.

Ashbourne Bypass Opened
Four months ahead of schedule, An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, T.D., on Thursday, 25 May 2006, opened the Ashbourne Bypass.  The new Bypass will mean time savings of up to 20 minutes at peak times and will remove some 10,000 vehicles from the town of Ashbourne each day.
